Kurbanjan Samat  is of Uyghur nationality, born in Hotan, Xinjiang. He is a member of China Photographers Association, China Folklore Photographic Association(CFPA), member of China Uyghur History and Culture Research Society, cameraman of CCTV-9 Documentary, freelance photographer, independent curator, chairman and legal representative of Shanghai Jahangir Culture Investment Development Co., Ltd, art director of Dianyi Cultural Communication Studio, and visiting professor of School of Humanities, Xinjiang University. Kurbanjan Samat had held personal exhibitions in international photography events such as Photo Beijing 2014 and Pingyao International Photography Festival. In 2014, Kurbanjan Samat planned and photographed picture feature - I AM FROM XINJIANG, and published I AM FROM XINJIANG in book in October 2014. With the lens and texts, he recorded the stories of over 100 ordinary Xinjiang people who lived and worked in the mainland despite their difference in nationality, career and age to present how contemporary Xinjiang people strive to realize their dream.
