Brian C. Chao is Assistant Professor of National Security Affairs at the Naval War College. He studies the US-PRC great-power relationship, cross-Taiwan Strait relations, US defense and foreign policies in the Indo-Asia-Pacific, and naval power and geostrategy. Brian's work appears in Navies in Multipolar Worlds: From the Age of Sail to the Present (Routledge, 2021) and has also been published by the China Brief, The Diplomat, the East Asia Forum, and The National Interest, among others. Brian holds an AM and a PhD in Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania, at which he also helped organize CSCC's annual China and International Relations Graduate Research Workshop. He holds an AB in Government from Dartmouth College and certificates in Mandarin Chinese from Peking, Tsinghua, and the National Taiwan Universities.
