The Logic of Technology Transfer Policy in Rising China

John Minnich will discuss his ongoing book project, Re-Innovation Nation: The Logic of Technology Transfer Policy in China, which examines how the Chinese state's strategic interests and its bargaining power over foreign firms shape its use of foreign technology transfer policies in the post-WTO period.

John is a Postdoctoral Fellow with the Columbia-Harvard China and the World Program at Columbia University and a Research Fellow with the Center for the Study of Contemporary China at the University of Pennsylvania. His research focuses on Chinese technology and industrial policies and their implications for U.S.-China relations. He received his PhD in Political Science at MIT in August 2023. Starting Fall 2024, he will be an Assistant Professor of International Political Economy at the London School of Economics.
