Mingren Zhao is a visiting scholar at Penn’s Graduate School of Education. Zhao is an associate professor in the School of Education at Northwest Normal University, executive deputy director of the Center for Teacher Education Research, the Key Research Institute of Humanities & Social Sciences at Universities in Gansu, he is also currently affiliated with the Center for Teacher Education at Beijing Normal University. His research and teaching focus on teacher professional development, policy of teacher education, educational change, curriculum and instruction. His dissertation title is a case study on teacher reflection in the context of new curriculum reform in mainland China. He has published a number of articles on the issue of teacher education. He is working on a project of constructing a nationalwide database of China`s teacher education institutions. He received B.A. and M.A. from Northwest Normal University (Lanzhou, China) and a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2006.
